Clockwork trains and racing cars

Alongside the production of the HO gauge trains which was the basis of its activity, Jouef developed an small of range of battery-operated toy trains for younger children, under the name "Chou Chou Baby ". It supplemented the primary series of clockwork train sets which continued its extremely profitable career.

The production of the slot car circuits was maintained up to the end of the 1990's. Thanks to their reasonable prices Jouef slot cars achieved a constant sales level and the range continued to develop. Amongst the more famous models were the go kart, Renault AlpIine1600, a drag car and the Lancia Stratos… In 1978, the range included no less than seven circuits and 24 competition cars. In parallel Jouef also distributed the racing circuits of the German firm Stabo in France.

But, by the middle of the 1970's the standard of Jouef cars had fallen and in an attempt to compensate for the absence of details a superabundance of transfers was applied to the cars which did nothing for them.
