8891 - The Nederland Spoorwegen (NS) co-co 1306
Issued about 1975 this is a re-liveried version of the NS1308 co-co to match the new NS livery then being introduced in Holland
Prototype information:
Based on the 1100 class
these locos were built in France, in the
1950's. They were powerful locos, which were especially used for freight
traffic. Originally painted in NS blue livery they were repainted in yellow
and grey in the 1970's. They have now been withdrawn but loco 1302 has been
preserved.
The class comprised 15 locos, although 16 locos were actually built. During the construction of the class, in 1953, loco No 1303 suffered a major accident and was not rebuilt instead many of its components were used in the construction of loco 1311. |
