The first of the larger catalogues saw some new models but also the re-introduction of some
re-vamped older ones.
The most important development was the Telecommande system of automatic
train control.
The 2-8-0 tender loco was introduced in green and the Draisine (Track maintenance
vehicle
which had just entered service on SNCF) was
also introduced (right). Also a red version
of the bo-bo BB9288 to match 'Le Capitole' stock, which was also new. This consisted
of a coach and a restaurant car in red. Also introduced this year was a new
stainless steel (Inox) 1st class coach and a new SNCF UIC standard 1st class
coach in green.
The older passenger stock models from Playcraft days still soldiered
on and now included the former Playcraft self-service restaurant car (868)
in red.
On the freight side came some re-liveried 4 wheel tankers ('Solonia', 'Vins
Margnat' and 'Propane Butagaz'), and the
famous heating van for use with the class 67001 diesel.
1968 also included 'Un amour de petit train' ( 'A cute little train') in the shape of the
ex-Playcraft Decauville and the remains of the Egger-Bahn range.
A much larger range of building kits was now available
which were made by Jouef themselves.
Once again the slot car system was included as was the Briks range.
